The So-Called "Reading Crisis" Is a False Alarm
Everyone online seems to be diagnosing a new “reading problem.” If you cannot get through long articles anymore, people tell you your brain has been broken by screens and short video. This essay argues the opposite: in many cases, the problem is not your mind but the environment around it. We are not becoming illiterate so much as entering a post-monomodal age, where text, audio, video, and AI-assisted interaction all become valid containers for deep learning.
